What’s better than garlic, butter and lemon together? All poured over shrimp with a sprinkling of parsley to brighten it all up. This Oven Baked Garlic Butter Shrimp is a delicious, simple sheet pan dinner that is ready in 20-25 minutes. Super easy and yet yum, yum, yum!
Key Ingredients and Substitutions
- Shrimp – Ideally medium (41/50) or large (31/35) shrimp.
- Unsalted Butter – This recipe is all about the butter but if looking to avoid it, you can use extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil or other high heat cooking oil. You will loose some flavor by omitting the butter. In which case, I recommend sprinkling the shrimp with your favorite seasoning. Some seasonings that go well with shrimp include: Italian seasoning, Cajun seasoning, Lemon Pepper, Old Bay or Za’atar.
- Garlic – Fresh garlic makes this recipe. In a pinch, substitute 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder. Don’t add the garlic to the butter before microwaving. The garlic will clump together. You can also melt the butter in a small saucepan if you prefer.
- Lemon – The citrus balances the richness of the butter and adds a nice freshness to the dish.
Preparation
The baking time will vary based on the size of your shrimp and your oven. I typically use medium shrimp which takes 10-12 minutes in my oven oven.
- Place the shrimp on a parchment lined baking dish.
- Melt the butter (in the microwave or in a sauce pan). Stir in the garlic and lemon juice.
- Pour the butter mixture over the shrimp. Sprinkle with salt and red pepper flakes.
- Bake on 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Sprinkle with chopped parsley.
What to Serve with Oven Baked Garlic Butter Shrimp
You can serve the Garlic Butter Shrimp over orzo, rice or polenta. You will want to be sure to spoon the excess sauce over everything to capture all of that delicious buttery flavor. Some great vegetable parings are Sheet Pan Green Vegetables, roasted asparagus or broccolini, sauteed spinach, or roasted or steamed broccoli.
